SHIV (Self-Honed Instrument of Violence) is a band from Dallas, TX that combines the crushing riffs of old school death metal and classic hardcore with the dark philosophical weight of Fyodor Dostoevsky’s writing. Forged with the intent of pushing extreme music into deeper territory, the band channels themes of despair, morality, and the human condition into a relentless wall of sound.

In 2023 SHIV released their debut 6-song EP THE ONLY WAY TO ESCAPE IS TO DIE, a raw and uncompromising statement that quickly carved their place in the underground. Original members Craig Meinhart (vocals), John Tapia (guitar), and David Cruz (drums), have been joined by Ryan Forist (bass) and Krishna Peri (guitar) to round out the sound and push the intensity with renewed force.

With a sound that’s equal parts feral energy and suffocating heaviness, SHIV continues to cut their own path - brutal, unflinching, and unafraid to stare into the abyss.
